A 39-bottle vertical lot of Chateau Mouton Rothschild wines from vintages spanning the years from 1970 to 2008 goes on sale at a Bonhams auction in San Francisco on May 26, while recent vintages from the same estate are on sale at another Bonhams sale in London the same day.

The pre-sale upper estimate for the 39-bottle vertical is $25,000, according to the Bonhams catalog. The London sale features Mouton wines from more recent years including 2011.

Charles Curtis, a Master of Wine and author of "The Original Grand Crus of Burgundy," is joining New York-based wine auction house Zachys as a Burgundy consultant, according to an e-mailed statement from Zachys.

Curtis, who established his own fine wine consultancy WineAlpha in 2012, will continue as principal of that company. He was previously head of department and vice-president of Christie's Wine Department in both New York and Hong Kong.

Sotheby's Hong Kong is planning to offer wines from Chateau Palmer spanning 87 vintages back to 1928 at an auction in Hong Kong on June 4.

The wines will be sourced direct from the chateau as well as from the cellars of Maison Maehler-Besse and Franck Maehler-Besse, according to an e-mailed statement from Sotheby's. Palmer is ranked a third-growth wine estate from the Margaux region of the Medoc, north of Bordeaux, in the 1855 classification.
