Petrus Vertical Back to 1964 Fetches $46,550

June 18, 2016

A vertical collection of Petrus covering the years from 1964 to 2010 sold for $46,550 at Christie's in New York this month, as demand for the top Pomerol producer at auction remained strong.

Top vintages represented in the lot included 1989, 1990, 2000, 2009 and 2010, according to data on Christie's website. Collector appetite for the wine estate is driven by a combination of its quality record over the past half century and its relative scarcity, with about 30,000 bottles a year being produced, according to Cocks et Feret, a Bordeaux wine publisher.
